The all powerful bike lobby

politicans are listeningOur friend, colleague, mentor, internationally known bike advocate and Long Beach resident Charlie Gandy recently penned an article on the Pedal Love Website Titled “the all powerful bike lobby.”

As Charlie points out in the article bicyclists are becoming an important voting group.  In cities across California and across the nation bicyclists are speaking up encouraging their local politicians to make their cities more livable by making them more biking and walking friendly.  And as we see from what is happening in Long Beach and other cities across southern California the politicians are listening and responding.

Please look through Charlie’s article and think about what you can do to have your voice heard in your local elections.

And then tell us…Bikeable Communties…what we can do to help you have a bigger impact in Long Beach and our surrounding communities.

For Long Beach residents one way to get involved is to attend the upcoming Long Beach mayoral candidates forum on “Liveable Communities, co-sponsored by Bikeable Communities.

The forum will be on Tuesday February 25th at the Art Theater in Long Beach.  The exact time for the event will be announced in the next few days.

If you like what Bikeable Communities is doing to build more bicycle friendly communities across southern California – please help our effort by making a tax deductible donation to Bikeable Communities
