Joe & Larry Go Big

Update 10/14/11 – Joe and Larry had a wonderful “Sorta Excellent Adventure” and raised over $3,500.00 for Bikeable Communities and Mark Bixby’s call to “Go Big or Go Home.” Stay tuned! More of the story coming soon – but here below you can read about the beginnings.

Joe Meyer & Larry Canale are leaving for their “Sorta Excellent Adventure“  on 9/6.

They are flying to Portland with bicycles in a box [sounds like a cool new product] where their Sorta Excellent Adventure will begin: the peddling duo will ride their bikes for 3 weeks from Portland down the west coast of California.  Let’s see how far they can get.

Joe & Larry are dedicating their ride to their friends who were in the tragic plane crash in Long Beach on 3/16/11 that took the life of our good friend Mark Bixby [& four others] and critically injured Mike Jensen whose recovery has been nothing short of a miracle and a testament to the fortitude of his mental-will and physical strength.  God Bless him.

Joe and Larry have decided to raise some money to donate to Bikeable Communities in honor of Mark Bixby & Mike Jensen.

I asked Mike to direct me.  All Mike wanted to do was help us honor Mark Bixby.
So, we will dedicate our ride to Mark, Mike and their families by supporting their passion … cycling.
Hope you can participate.

Now. . . Joe and Larry are not cyclists.
Larry just got new knees a few months ago (that’s right,  2 knee replacements).
We are on an adventure.
No plan.  No reservations.  No bike van.
We have everything we need on our bikes.

So . . .we have established 2 rules for the trip:
1) Wake up each day, praise God for our blessed day, and dedicate our effort to Mike and Mark.
2) Try not to fall off the bike.

Remember to kiss your loved ones each day and be kind.
